Eid 2025 Moon Sighting in Pakistan: Crescent Expected on March 30, Confirms SUPARCO
As Ramadan 2025 draws to a close, anticipation is building for the sighting of the Shawwal crescent, which marks the beginning of Eidul Fitr. According to the Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), the crescent moon is expected to be visible in Pakistan on Sunday, March 30. This means that Ramadan will conclude after 29 days of fasting, allowing Pakistanis to celebrate Eid the following day.
Advanced Astronomical Calculations Support March 30 Visibility
SUPARCO’s prediction is based on advanced astronomical models, which have been used to determine the visibility of the moon with great accuracy. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has also endorsed this estimate, citing favorable atmospheric conditions that are conducive to sighting the crescent moon on March 30. However, the final confirmation will come from the Ruet-i-Hilal Committee, which traditionally observes the moon before officially announcing Eidul Fitr’s commencement.
Saudi Arabia and Middle Eastern Countries May Observe Eid Simultaneously
In neighboring Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern nations, the possibility of sighting the crescent moon on March 29 is reportedly low due to its young age. This makes it likely that these countries will also celebrate Eidul Fitr on March 31, aligning their festivities with Pakistan.
Government Announces Public Holidays and Special Travel Arrangements
To facilitate Eid celebrations, the federal government has declared a three-day public holiday from March 31 to April 2, 2025. This will allow citizens to travel and spend time with their families during the joyous occasion. In addition, Pakistan Railways has announced four special trains to accommodate travelers heading to their hometowns, ensuring smooth transportation during the holiday period.
Eidul Fitr: A Time for Joy and Togetherness
Eidul Fitr is a time of celebration, gratitude, and togetherness. The festival is marked by special prayers, gatherings with loved ones, and delicious feasts. While scientific predictions provide a helpful guideline for planning, the traditional moon sighting remains a crucial aspect of the cultural and religious significance of Eid.
As the nation eagerly awaits the Ruet-i-Hilal Committee’s official announcement, preparations for Eid are already in full swing. Whether through astronomical calculations or traditional observation, the joy of Eidul Fitr unites people in a spirit of harmony and festivity.
