One of the quickest and most effective methods of curling synthetic braids is to wrap the ends of the hair in rollers (preferably hard plastic) and briefly submerge them in boiling hot water. The rollers are then quickly removed from the surface. The ends of the braids will retain their curl for an extended period of time. In addition to being effective, this technique is also quick; it can be completed in less than 30 minutes. This method, however, should be used with caution due to the possibility of scalding.

After wearing them, I spritz them with the Beauty Mark leave-in conditioner and gently comb them through with my wide tooth comb, giving it a slight shake before putting them back on the wig stand. That usually gets the job done for me.

However, if you follow these instructions, your wig will be as straight as an arrow! I believe she also demonstrates how to get it back into shape, but I believe that is more advanced than I am prepared to handle. At least for the time being. However, it is a distinct possibility. With synthetic (non-heat-friendly) wigs, you can use LOW heat settings on your heat tools (test it out on an old wig first) and a steamer to style your wigs. I purchased a travel steamer from Amazon, which has proven to be quite effective. You can also use a low heat setting on an air heat styling tool for added versatility.

So I decided to try something new today with an old synthetic wig that wasn't heat friendly. I put some rollers in (the ones that you heat up, but I put them in cold) and then I used a travel steamer that I purchased on Amazon for $17 to steam around the rollers for a few minutes. It worked perfectly. After it had cooled down, I removed the rollers and, voila, my hair was curly! Basically, I just wanted to make sure it stayed curly after washing it! Oh, my goodness! It's quite impressive. I mean, it wasn't a particularly impressive curl job, but I was experimenting with an old wig at the time. You could always straighten it back out and give it another shot, I guess.
