My husband, husband, and I have homes on an Animal Crossing island that I created. My daughter is not that good in the game, and she generally just decorates her own house with stuffed animals and random nick nacks that my husband and I depart. I woke up last weekend to find that every tree had been cut down on the island, lots of flowers were dug up, outdoor furniture moved round, and randomly dug holes everywhere. I sat down and had a chat with my daughter about respecting other people's attempts and out of anger I took her change and said she'd get it back in the end of the week. My husband thinks that this is unnecessary as it's just a video game, but frankly I feel as though it was still disrespectful to fuck up my job even though it is not a tangible thing. Perhaps a week was somewhat excessive, but I believe there is a lesson my daughter could learn from this about respect. What do you believe reddit?

EDIT: I forgot to mention I did speak with my daughter when we initially bought the match and told her that she could do whatever she wishes to her own house and lawn but she needs parental approval to make huge changes on the rest of the island.
