Spiritual Devotion: 4,000 Muslims Observe Itikaf at the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah
Thousands Embrace Itikaf in the Heart of Madinah
In the sacred city of Madinah, around 4,000 Muslims from 120 countries have gathered at the Prophet’s Mosque to observe itikaf, a deeply spiritual practice of seclusion and worship during the last ten days of Ramadan. The initiative, organized across 48 designated locations within the mosque, offers participants an immersive experience of devotion, reflection, and connection with the Divine.
To facilitate a seamless and focused environment, the General Authority for the Care of the Two Holy Mosques has arranged 12 essential services. These include meal provisions, clean drinking water, medical assistance, multilingual guidance, and even mobile charging stations. Each observer is also provided with a wristband, ensuring smooth access to their designated areas.
However, to maintain the sanctity of the practice, strict guidelines are in place. Observers are required to uphold the principles of tranquility, cleanliness, and safety. Bringing unauthorized food, receiving visitors, or allowing children into the itikaf spaces is strictly prohibited. These measures aim to foster an atmosphere of peace and deep worship within the holy mosque.
The commitment of thousands of believers to this practice reflects the profound spiritual significance of itikaf in Islam. It serves as a reminder of devotion, self-discipline, and the pursuit of closeness to Allah during the most sacred nights of Ramadan.
